Two
words in English MALE•FEMALE are the title and proposed itinerary per
Deanna Galletto's exhibition: it was a choice motivated by a formal
viewpoint as well as conceptual, the most expressive terms seem to be sound,
alphabetical succession syllabic composition.
The "geographic" inclusion for the first and a semantic one
for the second, moreover, it points out the thread that also joins the
artist's works in the plurality of the languages used.
To
speak about man and woman, in this time of ours after the crisis of
"strong thought” and feminism as an active movement, is an act of
courage, she's not afraid of memory and nostalgia isn't an alibi, it's also
an act of shyness and cultural creativity try and recompose the concept of a
person beyond exact opposite stereotypes.
A person as a burden-psyche integration, as a tender and aggressive
union, as ambiguity: FE-MALE, precisely.
Almost a homeopathy. lf it's nice to recall that in the most archaic
myths the creator of the universe was the Great Mother, it's also reassuring
to desire "the father of tools and the mother of affection",
though distinct, they have a common cultural creativity.
Deanna
Galletto's exploration has privileged the theme of sensuality: this is the
sense of the penetrations imprinted and repeated in the etchings, in the
life and stories of the photographic material, in the "forest" of
marks of the watercolours, the ambiguous metamorphoses that comes out of the
video.
